Comb-back Writing-arm Chair with Walnut Arms
|
Another example of the writing chair adapted from late 18th century New England and Philadelphia prototypes. The rounded case-work under the tablet is modeled after the noted Philadelphia chairmaker Anthony Steel’s work, with a fully dovetailed locking drawer. Writing tables are always made with select (and usually figured) full-width boards(19" to 20" wide). Arms and drawer-fronts are also made from high quality, figured stock. Tulip poplar writing tables (for fully painted chairs) are single boards.
